Description
Miller Engine-Driven Diesel Welder/Generator with Wireless Interface Control & ArcReach
Built for demanding transmission pipeline and professional field-welding applications, this next-generation Miller engine-driven welder/generator combines rugged construction, a low-speed industrial diesel engine, advanced wireless controls, and Miller’s proven ArcReach technology.
Designed to help operators spend more time welding and less time walking back to the machine, the system provides convenient control of welding processes and parameters directly from the work area.
Wireless Interface Control
Miller’s Wireless Interface Control puts key machine functions in the operator’s hands from around the jobsite. This helps reduce unnecessary trips back to the power source and makes adjustments faster and more convenient.
- Change Welding Processes: Switch between supported welding processes remotely.
- Adjust Welding Parameters: Make parameter changes without repeatedly returning to the machine.
- Save Preset Programs: Select and save frequently used welding setups for faster operation.
- Remote Start & Stop: Turn the machine on or off using the wireless interface.
- Service Information: View service reminders and other useful machine information from the interface.
- Improved Productivity: Spend less time traveling between the weld and power source to make adjustments.
Heavy-Duty Mitsubishi S4L2 Diesel Engine
Powered by a Mitsubishi S4L2 low-speed industrial diesel engine, this machine is engineered for demanding professional applications where durability and dependable operation are essential.
The S4L2 is used in industrial equipment worldwide and is designed for extended service life, with Miller stating a design target of 10,000 operating hours before major overhaul. The engine is also Tier 4 Final (T4F) compliant.
ArcReach Technology
Miller’s ArcReach technology communicates welding adjustment commands through the existing weld cables. When used with compatible ArcReach accessories, amperage and voltage adjustments can be made closer to the weld rather than at the engine-driven power source.
- Remote Weld Adjustment: Control amperage and voltage closer to the work area.
- Uses Existing Weld Cables: Communication takes place through the weld cables, simplifying the jobsite setup.
- Reduced Trips to the Machine: Helps operators spend more time at the weld and less time walking back to the power source.
- Jobsite Productivity: Particularly useful for pipeline and field applications where the welding location may be a significant distance from the machine.
Dynamic DIG Technology
Miller’s proprietary Dynamic DIG technology uses a time-based algorithm to automatically determine the additional current needed to clear a short. Unlike conventional DIG systems that apply a preset amount of short-clearing current, Dynamic DIG continuously responds to welding conditions.
The result is a smoother and more consistent arc that can better accommodate differences in application, material, joint fit-up, and individual welding technique.
Professional Controls & Standard Features
- Digital Preset Weld Meters: Allow welding parameters to be set and monitored conveniently.
- Output Contactor Control: Provides additional control of weld output during operation.
- Automatic Idle: Reduces engine speed when full output is not required, helping reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and engine operation.
- Low-Speed Diesel Operation: Designed for professional applications requiring long operating periods and dependable performance.
Built for Pipeline Professionals
Combining a Mitsubishi S4L2 industrial diesel engine, Wireless Interface Control, ArcReach technology, Dynamic DIG, and professional-grade welding controls, this Miller welder/generator is engineered for transmission pipeline contractors and demanding field-welding operations.
The combination of remote machine control and weld-cable-based ArcReach adjustments helps reduce unnecessary movement around the jobsite while giving the operator greater control directly where the work is being performed.
